Heya,

I thought I was done for the day, but it rained, and right after the rain the light is near perfect, very diffuse, no patchy sun trickling through the canopy, still sprinkling some rain so everything is a touch wet which helps with contrast & color at least to my eyes. So I ran back outside with my 7D, 300 F4L on my tripod & gimbal and within a few seconds of sitting down, the feeder was swarming. I guess the water helped spread some scent of the seed around?

I call that ..Green Light Martin, I love shooting in the green light. Now I know most don't see the jays moulting but he has just blown all the feathers off his head, they will return lol. In my images from this past few months you can see verying stages of like yours gone completely to slowly coming back.

Green light suits it, that's for sure. Definitely my favorite light it seems.

I did some researching on the Jays here in Florida and apparently in August/September it's common for them to molt and see a bunch of them looking bald and weird for a bit. I'm glad it's just the natural molting process and not some kind of pest or bug or something.

Very best,

Good work everyone!! There's a lot of good on this page.

My 7D and 400 fell off my truck seat onto the floor the other day, so now im worried that its not right. But i havent found anything to test it on lately. im sure its fine, just nervous.

I'm sure it'll be just fine, the 7D and Canon L lenses are built like tanks. I had my 7D and Tamron 70-300mm sitting in my passenger seat when I was driving a few weeks back and I had to hit my brakes hard because someone had cut me off and the 7D went straight off the seat, hit the bottom of the dash and then landed with a thud on the floor. My heart stopped and didn't restart till I pulled into a parking lot and checked and verified that everything still worked just fine.

Yeah im not too worried about the 7D, i know those are built like tanks. thats pretty much exactly what happened to me. Seems to be functioning fine. I shot some Ziess star charts and everything seems to be in order. Just very nerve racking. I know the dust pump can be iffy at times. It did land body first and then the lens hood caught the other end. AF works at all ranges. I tried shooting the moon tonight and it was a failure haha.

Anyway...back to birds

Yes not to worry, It'll take a licking and keep on tickin, I find that guys like us running around the country side need a means of keeping the camera on the seat when we need to hit the brakes. I use a towel and the seat belt.
