Sheesh...this year we are getting an absolute glut of amazing wide-angle lenses. Amazing isn't it? As one who has the Laowa 12mm on order, I'll definitely be watching this one closely. Might be selling my 16-35mm to fund this one.

Incredible! So many wide angle options available. It's going to be hard choosing.

I was hoping for a Batis announcement as opposed to a loxia. Do you think there will ever be a Sony / zony / zeiss 35/2 With AF ?

I reckon the loxia announced will be a 50mm maybe a 1.7 (it's been a few weeks since the last 50 so it's due)

Yes, because it's a very popular lens amongst portrait photographers. I simply cannot believe Sony or Zeiss wouldn't release such a lens.

For me it wasn't a matter of f1.4 vs f1.8. The big reason I went for the GM is because the bokeh of the Batis always bugged me. It gets really harsh when there are hard specular highlights in the background....and when I shoot portraits, its often outside with sunlit foliage in the background. I would have been fine with f1.8. The degree of blur isn't too significant between f1.4 and f1.8.

And here I was thinking you kept both. Since your signature still mentions the Batis 1.8/85. :-)

Hehe remember not too long ago when the criticism was that there weren't enough native wide angle lenses?
