It's like buses on here, all quiet on here then suddenly two old members show up. :) Welcome back.

Sorry to hear about the redundancy Laurence, must be tough after so long with the company. We're going through redundancies in my division also - I'm not affected but I know people who are so its a bit tough. Deja vu all over again as they say, after going through this at Pfizer 5 years ago.

It's a bit quiet on the photography front here. Shorted out my 5D2 while urbexing in Chartham Asylum in June (who knew that you'd get wet while in a building with a collapsed roof?) and now trying to see if its covered on insurance. With luck they might cover the repair or a new camera. So far my back up 400D isn't cutting the mustard so both bodies might get the chop soon.

Haha, I just moved to Germany so I'm fresh out of kidneys after all the taxes and moving costs I had to pay. That said, the cost of a used Mark III just dropped a bit lower...

The world does seem rather mad these days. Well done on getting a new and different job. I would find that quite a challenge!

Thanks :) as I said it is physically demanding especially on the ankles & knees.............just hope for the best as I head that bit closer to retirement.

Yes. tough in some senses but I could see the writing on the wall in more ways than one......I will not expand on a public forum but suffice to say I am likely better out than in! Just need to make a success in this new job :)

Agh!!!! about your 5D2, I hope you can get it sorted out AOK

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

It is National Cycle To Work Day today so here's some photos from my ride in, what a cracker of a morning! :D

Both taken with my phone and then a bit of processing in LR.

Ditto on the redundancy Laurence.
Dennis you can pick up a 1Ds 3 for under a £1000 now I've been looking at one myself.
Mike like those a lot not bad for a phone.

Last night we had Helen a fitness competitor in the studio for a club night.
Shot with a large strip box behind and to the side and a 7 inch reflector with 10 degree grid the same in shot on the other.

I need higher ISO for urbexing so the 3200 of a 1Ds3 doesn't cut it for me. I've been looking at a 1D4 or 5D3 with the expanded ISO of 102400, both are around a grand, £1200 for a model in good condition. I'd love a 1Dx but can't justify the £2k pricetag at the moment. Still have moving costs coming in (£2.5k to repaint an apartment in Switzerland!!vmad) so maybe in the new year I'll be able to convince myself I need the new gear :)

I've convinced myself I need a new body, the only trouble I have in convicing clients to pay up on time so I can afford one and not have to buy other gear for the studio which seems to be sapping funds we had to buy two new flash tubes the other day at £78 a pop. I kep looking at a 5D3 but I never sem to get there the way things are oing I may just go for a 5D2 and save for a 5D4 which I maybe able to afford by the time the Mk5 comes out.

I was asked to do a photo shoot for a friend at their youth group awards night, I said I don't do people and hate flash but none the less they convinced me with a curry and few beers :-D

Did the shoot the main problem was the colour of the uniforms ............. black trousers and white shirt oh and their back drop was a vivid blue vmad

The photos in the main came out ok and I am sure the parents will be happy.

Did say to my friend next time it will be two curries and a lot more beer

Sometimes I take good photos other times !!!!

Thanks Dom :)

I see the studio is going well........though costs management sounds a tad strained at times?!

As for this image ~ a very strong characterisation and the PP'ing has almost given it a high key painterly finish. I surmise not to everyones taste but it does convey a message of both obvious and hidden strength.

Thank Laurence I was going for a strong image to portray the strength of Helen's physic.
I wouldn't say things are strained but they do take a bit of juggling at times, but things are going well and go from strength to strength it would be nice to get enough work in so I could devote all my time to the studio and give up the day job though.
