My daughter (5yo) has been asking if she can use the new camera setup we got last week (Sony a6000 with the SEL28F20 28mm prime lens) so I obliged. I took her for a drive to the river park in our city, put the camera on auto and said "don't drop it" and then let her do her thing. Here she is.

She took about 40 photos. As you would expect, some were bad, but she did get a few that I thought were really cool. So here they are:

The fun part was listening to her describe how she was taking the photos. Now, her mother and I are not at all professional photographers and we don't discuss photography. We just have enough information to make educated purchase decisions. So with that said, it was a hoot to listen to my daughter telling my wife "I took a picture of this log... it's blurry because I wanted to show off the fence" and "I thought this tree looked pretty".

It was a nice perspective... just letting a 5yo run wild and take pictures of what she finds cool enough to shoot.

Have to say, you're braver than me!! But, well done on letting her, she's got a good eye for sure. If she got 4 keepers out of 40 shots, 10%'s better than some pros :p

Well done both of you

Garry

Thanks.

haha... yea... I made sure she wore the strap the whole time. She was careful.

Really was great getting to see her take pride in what she was doing. I could tell that she knew it was a big responsibility. I told her I'll let her take some photos on our vacation to Disneyland next month if she wants. She's pretty excited about it... she keeps asking about going outside to practice taking pictures for our vacation.
