The third in a new series I am working on. Probably my favorite so far.

But ive read that the full AF modes can not be used for video which is very stupid to say the least. I dont remember if you cant use phase detection or if you will have less AF points but AF for stills is better than for video. Tbh im very satisfied with the AF on the A7RII for what i use it. And video or stills its the same.

Im never ever going back to DSLRs. The point of moving from canon to sony was to get smaller lighter cameras and in terms of IQ i even get a lot more quality coming from a 6D.

PDAF doesn't work when shooting video...probably because on sensor PDAF blocks some of the color data within certain pixels and the interpolation magic that works for stills wont work for videos. Either way, you wouldn't want to use PDAF when shooting video because its extremely jerky. This is one area where Canon's dual pixel has a very clear advantage over sony's hybrid AF system, as it can create that very smooth pull focus you can only otherwise create using MF.

I'm not going back to DSLR's either. Since I have a couple of weddings in the pipe-line, I had a flicker of a crazy idea of getting the a99 and the two a-mount 2.8 zooms.....but even for weddings the a99's AF system and burst rate and what-not is overkill, and the a7rII has worked very well in the events I've shot in the past year. Different story if I were shooting sports and wildlife. I need to get a second body eventually, but I have a hunch that the a7III will make more sense when it drops sometime in the next 12 months. I'm not shooting enough weddings to justify a second $3,000 body so we'll see.

thanks. The motion right to left and directly at me was what made this frame stand out for me.

Interesting stuff. I wonder if they can squeeze that tech into an a7 series body

Not without putting a mirror in the a7 hah.

Honestly I think that the AF system in the a6300 + the continuous live view viewfinder is good enough to replace a DSLR. Just need to build a more robust body around it.

Ah. Good point. Wouldn't be much of a mirror less camera with a mirror inside :D

that..would be perfect IMO...like my Canon 7D was when it came out...fast, reliable crop body that could take full frame lenses...

How have I implied someone else scratched my lens? I said "Same goes for my camera gear, I hate cosmetic damage no matter how small". I only mentioned that it wasnt me who scratched my car because it wasnt me who scratched my car, but thats not the point. The point is I dont like scratches on my car or my lenses and my comment was in reply to the one by Mystik right before it.

Because you said that immediately after comments about somebody else damaging your car... it's not hard to make that assumption.

LUT adjustment layer?

No LUT, just a solid color layer on multiply blend mode. According to the PSD file, I used #003471 (0,52,113) and lowered the fill to 93%. These are all variable depending on the tones of the image beneath. It also helps to lower the saturation on the image below the 'night' overlay.

Here's one more edit I did first with the moon shining in through the window. Later, at someone else's suggestion, I moved the moon inside to the parlor.

If you try this on one of your interior shots, I'd love to see how it turns out.

You really can start an argument anywhere eh? You said you are not bothered about scrathes on a car or on gear (which is fine with me, each to their own). I say I am bothered with that sort of thing (and wasnt even saying it in response to you) and you twist what I say. And you wonder why DTBaan is calling you on it.

Probably best not to have phase detect AF in video. I find the video AF of the A7r2 perfect(don't think it's phase detect, definitely not fast). It's slow but deliberate, a very nice rack focus, I suspect the A99ii to be the same.

Any one but me and vinz intersted in real world data on the new em1 mark 2. The specs look simply sick. Dual card slots 18 fmps in full af in raw. Crazy fast AF. Focus stacking buolt in and live build up . 80mb raw files. Looks insane. I was on the fence for a a7 mark 2 but I've toyed the idea of em5 mark 2. I'm glad I waited. I think this cam may be in the cards for sure.

Yeah the a6300 is a great camera for the money, but kind of awkward since the ergonomics are pretty compromised. Sony is sort of backwards in the sense that most manufacturers put their best efforts into some super expensive halo body most cannot afford, whereas Sony put their best tech into lower end stuff, leaving you waiting for them to put the same tech in more fully featured offerings.

There's definitely room for an a7300.
