Get your camera out Jeff and cover things until we can pass through the area. Should be there in just over a week. Will send you a pm with more info soon. Hope you are able to get on the forum often, wouldn't mind another pic or two to pass the time.

Pondrader - When you posted you were headed up, I was really envious :-) Thanks for the first-hand update!

Looks like everything is still pretty green. Does that sound about right? What would you guess for peak? Another 10 days or 2 weeks?

Did you spot any wildlife?

Thanks too for posting the pictures and all the current info! I appreciate it and I'm sure Steve does too.

There are some moose around but it seems patchy yet, the colour is popping a bit today on some trees.

Had a bit of a mishap.... A motor home someone had left here and gone home for a few days bust into fire around noon, the camp was evacuated but I was not here at the trailer. My truck and trailer were about 100 feet from a good size motor home burning to the ground. Luckily the fire department and good luck put it out. My stuff is all good thankfully.

Glad to hear that everything is okay. Unfortunately those things happen. Hope it didn't spoil your weekend.

Based on what you saw, in regards to color this weekend, how long would you estimate before peak?

That's a good question John, it's a hard thing to guess. People seem to think it could be a week to two weeks late. But it's anyone's guess. It is way behind. In the past I have seem it go over by a week or so, or it could pop and drop... I think it could drag on for a while. I'm staying up for the week it's our 30th anniversary on Tuesday.... Well 34 if you count the years we just lived in sin with our first two children lol

Congratulations on your 34th Anniversary :-) So you're on vacation this week? From the photo you posted from by the water, I would say it is at least a week or a week and a half. We can adjust our plans to come closer to peak color, regardless of how late it arrives. Every year we go away for our October anniversary and this year's trip is Algonquin.

Thanks for the info. If you don't mind, keep me posted.

John

Well that had to be a scary situation Jeff, glad your rig is ok, sounds like it could have started a forest fire.
Three days to the countdown for me, so much to do before we leave, we are set in stone on our days that we can be gone so plan to make the best of it no matter what the colors or weather.
If we miss out I'm depending on Jeff and John to post some good pics.
Stay safe Jeff.

Thank you very much Terry. We have traveled a lot of miles in the last 8 years and thus far Alaska and the Dakotas are at the top of our list, we owe you for your suggestion of going to Medora a few years back and it comes up in conversation often. This year we decided to go North East and I happened to bring up the fact that Algonquin was not far out of the way so in 36 hours we are on the way.
I'm looking forward to returning to Ontario Lake country, it has been 34 years since I've been there.
