Don't forget Poof and I had a fly-away....maybe the GoPro drone in the future? I look every now and then, still stung
over the first loss.
Really all I need is something that will go straight up 500-700 feet and straight back down-reliably. I'd also like at
minimum mFT sensor size.

Hard to do since FAA mandates limiting height to 400'.

I'll keep an eye out for the FAA. Maybe I'll look down at them from 500 feet :)

Have you seen this lens ? ? ? Its a cheap fast 300.

http://www.dyxum.com ….8-APO-G-HS_review20.html (external link)

Thanks for the link. We have that zoom to 300 and a good 300 prime but I find them all too short for what I like to shoot. An exception is the EOS 70-300 when on the 5Dsr because of its extreme cropability, quite a bit even more than on the A7Rii, alas the 5Dsr has its own limitations. Who knows maybe someday an e mount or a mount 400/5.6 will arrive, in the meantime I'm also waiting out an EOS M5 pre-order so we'llsee how it does with the 400/5.6...no big hopes but DPAF does really well on the 80D in live view.

What do you all think of DJI's new drone so far? The smaller size makes it really interesting to me.

navydoc wrote in post #18142666 (external link)
The biggest thing holding me back from anything DJI at this point is the need for the firmware to be updated so often and as if that wasn't bad enough, their method of doing firmware updates is terrible. The process of updating firmware (which is often) is awkward, touchy and is prone to failures. The last time I tried to update the firmware on my Phantom 4 turned it into a brick.

For me, it's "Once bitten, twice shy". I'll be watching reviews and sample footage from both brands, DJI and GoPro in the future to decide which way I want to go. For me, the advantage goes to GoPro for now with its complete system of drone, stabilizer, handheld device, backpack, and controller with a built-in monitor, all in one package.

Thank you both for the information.

I've always wanted to fly one, and both Mavic Pro and Karma look fantastic (I was waiting for something smaller in size). I'm just checking specs and comparisons right now, and will look forward to seeing some reviews before making any decisions. Since I'm not a videographer nor do I look forward to doing any video, my main concern is the quality of still photos. I think I remember Nadim wanting more MP for higher quality pictures, and I'm not so sure if 12MP offerings (at least RAW is possible) from both DJI and GoPro would be sufficient enough..

I am now curious whether you can change cameras on the Karma. Since it would be compatible with Hero4 and 5, I'm assuming it could be possible? Maybe it would have to be another GoPro camera model? Could be my wishful thinking but I really want to know if I can install the new Nikon Keymission camera onto the Karma. That would be cool.

I've been out of commission all week with work stuff. But I did get out to the beach last weekend. Although the sunset was mediocre, the waves were pretty crazy, and it made for some interesting shots.

Haven't finished processing most of it, but here's one of the keepers.

While the pic came out rather nice, IMO, I have to say that I am increasingly finding myself fighting the Sony colors. The raw file comes out looking fairly flat and bland (as is expected), but as soon as I start adding some vibrancy or saturation in LR, I get rather "fake" looking colors.
The scene did not look quite the way it turned out in this shot. And playing with WB or the Camera Calibration settings did not help matters.
Frustrating...

Sony A7RII and a bunch of lenses.

Joon, from what I understand, there are separate 'frames' for the GoPro Hero 4 and 5. Each camera plugs into the frame using their respective built-n micro USB and mini HDMI ports. I'm not sure how other cameras would connect or how they would balance on the gimbal.

Since these cameras shoot 4k video, I don't know if any of them will increase still image size beyond 12 mp, just as the Sony a7s does.

Having viewed some side-by-side footage of Phantom IV vs Mavik Pro there is a surprising drop in image quality on the Mavik Pro. They claim the sensor is the same in both, so I guess the Mavik lens is terrible. Go Pro image quality is very good, so the Karma is more appealing to me right now.

The lighting on there pillars is great, but you probably clipped a bunch and probably need to bracket this to make it work, or avoid shooting directly into the sun.

The sun and reflection are appropriately clipped, but I'm not seeing anything else clipped.

oh man, that looks awesome....

wondering how it compares to the hassleblad, and off the bat, it has a lens lineup..... wow

There was no clipping except on the sun itself. Nothing at all unusual there.
There's nothing wrong with the image. It's the colors I have issue with. And this goes way beyond this one pic. Plenty of ones not shot towards the sun.
I can share raw files. I'd like to see what you guys get out of them.

Nadim, I would recommend you not add purely vibrance and saturation. I would recommend you adjust each color with respect to hue, saturation, and luminance in the HSL panel or better yet do it in Photoshop to avoid color banding. You'll have much more control over yours colors this way.
