I am in Florida and have also heard them called both. I have two cuttings someone gave me a few years back that are both flowering now. The rest of the year they are leafless empty stalks........

Pics taken spring 2015; finally left the film behind!
It has been a long time since I seriously shot flowers. Fun to return with today's tech, even with my 30 year old lens, a Nikkor 60mm!
