Hi James P,

Nice shots and would love to have been in Bayfield. Live in London, just down the road from you in Chatham. My wife and her family are from Chatham.

Random question, I am heavily debating 1DX or 1DX Mark II, On my 7D Mark II I have Back button focus setup and AE Lock switched to back button AF as well but when pushed, It switches to One Shot and focuses. Is this possible with the 1DX?

If this is possible with 1DX will you get one? And why it is possible or available with 7D MarkII and not with 1DX?
Honestly speaking, the crop-ability of 7D2 for reach is the strongest point maybe, and 20mp isn't that much far than 18mp, but i am happy that i got 1DX and never looked back to 7DII that time, even as a backup body i am not looking for 7DII.

Go with 1DX, i am sure those features you look for with AF/AE focuses will be available.

Well the 7D ii is newer and for example the 7D ii is the only body to have the lever on the joystick to switch AF groups. My Thought process is this, If I get the 1DX, my 7D II will become a backup, If I get the 1DX Mark II, I am selling the 7D II. There isn't any real logic behind it. I Know I will be happy with either camera however the price gap from CPW is about $1200 as I am getting either body NEW. Yes I can get a 1DX for 3k however with my luck (Focus Issues), I will stay away from used cameras from now on unless its from a known website like adorama, B&H where there is a return policy. So I can sell my 7D ii for $800-$900 and only have to put up a couple hundred to get the Mark II, No brainier right? But don't get me wrong, I am heavily debating a used 1DX and the likes of a 24-70 as I am getting a 70-200 IS II this weekend. I get paid once a month so I always go back and forth

Truly 1DX is a remarkable camera, actually it is my main camera now, and i won't buy anything less than it, so either another 1DX or 1DX ii, but because i stopped shooting sports now for a while so i don't need to buy another body, if i buy a better body then 1DX will be the backup immediately, but for now it is my main body.

If you can afford 1DX new now then go for it, it is still a fine capable camera for sports/action and such things, i still have 1D3 and even with its crop factor i still use 1DX always and 1D3 is crying.

7DII sounds a great camera, many using it, but sometimes there are what is called an intermediate camera and a pro camera, and so many can't afford that pro camera so they go with intermediate camera and call it a pro, but if i buy a pro camera then i make sure it is a pro body, and if i make it a backup then another pro same or better should be the main, and i almost never look back to those intermediate or entry level Canon DSLRs anymore.

Thanks, I use to own a 1D Mark IV and did great things with it but AF on the 7D II is indeed better however I know the 1DX is on another level and it was very hard for me to go back to a 7D size body. Those 1D Bodies feel so good in the hands. I also miss the AF points being lite in the Viewfinder. I know there is a firmware update for the Original 1DX but pretty sure its not the same as the 1D Mark IV or 1DX Mark II. This is a huge selling point for me because it's not just about you being able to see your AF points in low light, It also helps with accuracy. It flickers on my 7D ii and I think the Original 1DX does the same to my knowledge which helps in comparison to my 80D drastically but not the same as the 1D IV or 1DX ii. Anyway, If I can get a good deal with low shutter count, I might take it over the 1DX ii. Glass is more important.
