I put more emphasis on the fit and feel to my hand over function so YRMV. I've also been using a Logitech Performance Mouse MX for some time and am happy with it.

a basic Logitech non-wireless mouse for around ten bucks for gaming and everything else.
dont play mmo so no need for expensive mouse with a bunch of extra buttons
