That is probably my favourite shot of this past summer. My wife and i were hiking on the north coast of Newfoundland and we got lost. All of a sudden this eagle came out of nowhere and, after a hilarious scramble to get my 100-400 out of my backpack, I was able to get a few shots. We eventually found our way back to the village, tired,but it was a great day that we will always remember !

We absolutely fell in love with Newfoundland. So much so, that we are considering getting property there !
The scenery and wildlife are amazing, and the people are as nice and genuine as you will ever meet !
Can't wait to go back.

Interesting. A guy I used to take pictures with was in the same area of the island this past May. Besides the scenery and wildlife he has posted a fair number of images of icebergs. We're you lucky enough to see any? They are a fairly common sight along the coastline of that part of Newfoundland although they may be seen anywhere along the coast if you are lucky enough to be there at the right time. Been a long time since I saw an iceberg.

Nice shot. I would expect that those two have run aground. I think they call them growlers. I haven't been up in the Crow head area but I have been to Bonavista which is to the east of where you were. I spent 20 years on the 'rock' and there are hundreds of places I didn't get time to visit.
