maybe someone might have brought this up earlier, but what are ya'll using for screen protectors? I see some nice glass ones for sale for the touchscreen, but I dont see any for the top screen. I guess thats not as important, but I would like that one as well. in the past, i used GGS for the mark 3. also, I only want glass. no plastic or the crappy film, please.

I find it amusing that people are whining about an additional $30 for a Canon OEM battery after paying $3500 for the camera.

I never whined about it. Just said I've tried them out and they work great and perform identical to OEM in every way so why spend 200 more?

I did a pie chart after I insured all my equipment... and it's definitely not the camera cost I'm whining about lol

This dude has done a review on the 5dIV and I found his positive comments on the 4K video interesting. Probably because I am a chump when it comes to video.

Short fingernails

What gets me is my 1DX OEM battery charger came with dual power options (wall socket lead included) and a second socket in it ready for the optional 12v car charger lead (of course that cable is sold separately for about $60 locally - $55 overpriced). Yet the 5DIV LP-E6 charger comes with just the wall socket option... but wait you can buy the Canon OEM CBC-E6 almost identical LP-E6 charger with little socket hole compatible with the same $60 lead for another $200 locally. Grrrr! Why not just included another tiny socket hole and power inlet in the original OEM charger.

Just another part never to get used by 99% of the buyers. Keeps cost down by providing the bare necessities.

There is 3-5 companies that the product go through before the user buys it at a store. Every one of those companies expects 20-30% profits. THIS is why it cost alot.

Yes definitely profit driven as the cost to add the tiny bit of circuitry to include such trivial extra function is next to nothing. Stupid thing is no one (well most anyway) who do need this car travel charging option are not going to buy the $200 replacement charger (but would have bought the $60 Canon OEM cable like I did for the 1DX)... instead opting to buy the numerous $10-$20 12v charger options out there. Hell, 12v + wall charger + 2 wasabi batteries imported from US will cost about $50-$70. So in the end its just Canon and other companies that try to maximise every 'tiny' little bit that leave customers with little grumbles which need not be there at all and could be more profitable by just selling the extra cable than losing the sale altogether. And when my $20 ebay charger or battery blows the camera up unfortunately for Canon I have no regret sending it in for warranty none the wiser as its my turn to give back a little tiny bit of stick :)

After what I have spent on photo gear, I am not going to worry about an extra $30. for a Canon battery especially after many reports of issues with other brands.

You probably could buy a nice ND filter, speedlite etc etc with the $30 saving per battery you saved....

its more than $30 extra in the uk. not everything revolves around the US unfortunately.

Here in Finland. I did not put any links since the writings are in Finnish :)

Here is one example (Finnish language warning!): http://www.petripietilainen.fi …Canon+5D+Mark+IV+ja+bugi/ (external link)

An update from CPS Germany.

"Dear Mr. Burton,

Thank you for your answer.

Actually, we received some feedback from other customers over the years with the same issue. This happens then when only the TC is to the camera attached. In this case, you have an “open circuit” and the camera will keep trying to communicate – even is the camera is switched of – through the TC with the Lens, which is not attached. This will happen not with all gears, but from time to time, we receive some feedback like yours. The ON/OFF switch works not a real switch, but it is actually a “software-switch”, so the camera can continue communicate with the other components.

In these cases, we recommend to attach also the lens to the TC. Due to the length of your gear, this will not the best option for you. Either you take the battery out from the camera, or you attach the TC direct to the lens, without the camera.

You can also try to reset the camera to the factory settings (clear all camera settings).

We hope to have helped you."

So, we are aware of the problem and can do/will do nothing about it.
