Sad to announce that Fergus the Feral had to be put to sleep this morning as he had gone into Kidney Failure.
Him being a Feral of advancing years and not really allowing any human contact his treatment options were very limited sadly.

I will miss him out in the cat rescue garden as he always posed for the camera.......RIP old timer.

Hi Annie,

They all eventually find their forever homes apart from those (like Fergus) who aren't suitable for re-homing due to ongoing medical issues etc.
Those cats go on to live out their days as permanent residents at the rescue.

Younger Ferals that come into us usually get homed as farm cats.

It's a never ending cycle though......no sooner is a puddy tat homed a new one comes into us.

Obviously we have all adult cats spayed/neutered and full health checks before re-homing which hopefully helps to keep the feline population in check a little!

Still, the rewards of finding new pet humans for our little furry friends far outweigh the negatives.

It was people like you that we adopted our 3 girls from, 2 still with us (I miss you Chloe...), they were all rescued as young ferals. Our three girls love us, but have always hid from anyone else coming into our home...so be it.

When the time comes in the distant future, I plan on adopting adult cats. Simply because kittens usually have no problems finding homes and adult cats usually have to wait for their chance at a loving home.

Thank you for what you do.

Our girls back in 2006, day 2 of adoption...

Beautiful cats and thank you for taking them on :-)

We rely totally on donations and the lovely people we meet looking to have a Fur ball in their life.

Volunteering on my down days from work to help out at the rescue gives myself and my partner great fulfilment.

The only hard part is coming away each time we are there without even more cats to take home;-)a

A cat I came across on my travels. It was tame and quite the poser. Very colour co-ordinated!

This is Elroy, about 3 years old. He adopted us a couple of years ago. He was following a group of raccoons that were feeding on our back porch. He was very standoffish for the first year, then started letting my wife and I pet and hold him. He's strictly an outdoor kitty, but we decided to bring him inside into my office because of a major wind storm due to hit this PM in the Seattle area (winds 30 - 60 mph). He was going to get a vet visit this morning, but we decided the vet and bad storm would totally freak him out. Vet in a couple of weeks though. We want to be able to allow him inside in bad weather. We have other strictly indoor cats.

I adopted an outdoor kitty and I think it took about two years before he would sleep in the house. It was a very gradual process just making incremental changes on a weekly or monthly basis. Now he's 19 years old and will hardly go out. Spoiled as can be!
