Thanks again everyone for the input. I called a few friends and reached out to former co-worker from the race track days, explained what was going on and they all more or less said the same thing.....I need a new shutter (my actuations are over 130k).

Yea, I'm only looking to spend $150-160 at the most. From what I've found it looks like I can get a ok Rebel that should function enough to serve my purposes until next spring or so.

I'll still contact canon and see, but for what it sounds like that will cost, I'll just get a older rebel and make due until tax time and then upgrade to maybe the 80D or try to find a deal on a 5D mkII.

Cut back on some other stuff. Eat less. Do something so you can use a decent camera rather than living with something that is 'make do' for the winter.
