Loving this part of the country... so green & the colors are in full change up in the higher elevations. Today I got a little crazy, skirted around the park until I found a road called Big Creek. It was hairpin windy, all gravel, two lane but only 1 car width and 16 miles long! It took 90 minutes to get up to a remote place in the park called Catalooga. We were told it was a good spot to see the elk & it is rut season. Well there about 25 cars parked along the meadows there but no one was seeing elk. I got out to use the bathroom & heard the male elk bellowing so I grabbed Skip & we hoofed ourselves into the forest until we found a male & his harem. We did not get vey close because of the rut & the male had a huge rack of antlers. So we watched from a safe distance & then tiptoed out of there. I took a few shots but the canopy was quite dense & made the forest very dark there. We shall see when I get the shots home & into my computer.

Another iPhone shot from our gravel road trip......

Beautiful shot, Maureen! Sounds like the road was worth it and I look forward to the pictures.

Today we drove to Asheville, N. Carolina. Tonight we will meet & dine with a couple of POTN members that I have never met..... tomorrow we tour the Biltmore Estate.

Hello everyone!
Sounds like everyone is doing well! Looks like a beautiful trip Maureen!
Congrats on the new truck Stina! Hopefully you can get out soon and take some pics! Hunting season can really put a damper on getting out sometimes, that's for sure! Moose season is just around the corer here and then deer season starts the end of this month. But I'll just put my hunter's orange on and go anyway!
We got up at o dark thirty on Saturday morning and took a ride up toward Baxter state park. Ended up on the Golden road and took a pretty nice 200 mile trip through to Greenville and then back home. Here are a few shots from that day.

The first one is Mt Katahdin from the entrance of Baxter State Park and the second one is from Abol Bridge on the Golden Rd in Millinocket.

These two are taken at Togue Pond at the entrance of Baxter State Park. The first of my friend down on the beach. I just loved the way the light backlit him and the way he was framed with the trees.

Maureen, take care!

I hope you had a great time.

I'm spending wednesday with my dad, and my brother, who is visiting from Oregon for a few days. Haven't seen or spoken to him since my Mothers' funeral about 10 years ago! Wish me luck.-?

So far my dad is doing okay. He's been going out to breakfast, the beach, and the movies! He gets out more than I do, lol.

Hope you all are doing well:-)

Maureen, I had an awful flu in June. It wasn't flu season then, and it isn't now. What's going on with these flus, huh? Is it a new mutation? I did get the shot last fall.

It is actually flu season now....from October-April. Pretty sure I have never been this sick in my life. Fevers for 6 days, hacking my brains out & body pains so severe I almost can't stand it. If you folks haven't had a flu shot, please got get one now. We had an appointment to get ours yesterday but got hit with the flu before it happened. Only plus thing is that I am down 8 lbs.!!
