A nice, clear day with gentle breezes helped keep the foliage still enough for these back garden insects. The wasp has an inquisitive look,:-) rather than one of aggression.

Cheers

Finally got my 70-200 back and glad I got rid of the 200mm prime. It was great but I might have gotten a bad copy, Useless at f2.8 and keeper rate was low. My new 70-200 is working like a charm and keeper rate is insane! Now I am happy :-)

Well, after missing two weeks because of health issues, I finally got back on the sideline this Saturday for a game. It got dark real quick at this stadium and the lighting wasn't great. I did the best I could after it got dark. I didn't bother with the 100-400 lens and went straight to the 70-200. So, with the higher ISO's and the cropping I had to do, the photos aren't real great.

A few photos. Some before it got too dark.

Not everything goes as planned shooting football. Since it was getting dark, I was shooting short with the 70-200 lens (can't afford a 400 F2.8 lens) so I was trying to stay about 20 yards in front of the line of scrimmage to be able to get close enough for shots that I wouldn't have to crop too much. The sun was getting real low and was blocked by most of the stadium except for a few stray sun beams coming in from the southwest corner. I didn't think they would bother me because I was shooting in a northwest direction and not into the sun. Well, I wasn't expecting a real long pass play. The length of the play ended up with me almost shooting directly into the sun. My timing was good on the play but the sunlight destroyed the shot. If I had been shooting a 400 I would have been in the corner behind the endzone, the sun wouldn't have bothered me and I would have gotten the shot. :(

Sure they are a little noisy, but I still think the shots are pretty great. I would rather have a noisy, in focus shot than no shot at all.

Hah!:-) Thanks Mike, I wish I had those special powers, they would make chasing these highly mobile subjects so much easier.

Cheers
