Had a much needed rainy day yesterday which inspired me to make some homemade chili. This is what I served the Petite Sirah with.

Well I spent the weekend at the Mesa Arizona Arts Center. They had a dia de los muertos festival. I attended last year and got a shot that had some special meaning to this street artist. I sent it to him and had a thank you and that was it. I showed up Sat and sat as he and his son worked and he came over and reintroduced himself. I said yeah i sent you a shot from last year......... Dude went nuts he was "oh man that was such a great shot it meant so much to me and is hanging in my house" was my facebook pic and I told my wife when I die put it on the memorial"..... LOL we talked and talked about art. He still had my email in his phone and added me to an artist list. I thought man I would love a timelapse of this art and so I went back the next day. Still working on the timelapse processing but I may do one in his studio as well.

I HATE TAKING PEOPLE PICS..... it is the hardest thing for me to do. I never capture what I see. I am amazed at you guys that can do it. Sooooooo the weekend was a lens switching marathon. I was happy with how I handled that but i realized I am not in love with the 55 1.8 and the 90 2.8 mac is a poor substitute for a 85 1.? I found myself wishing I hadnt sold my 85 sigma. I cant get the color right either.

Medicine Man posted on my Flickr that this was his favorite of the bunch and funny enough I had told my wife the night before that it was my favorite of the weekend.

Here are some of my others. I am glad I stepped up to the challenge and tried and I am grateful for other supportive artists who just make you feel good even when you know your not.

This is an awesome series. Nice work!

The most gratifying thing about shooting portraits is how sentimental the photos become to the people you photograph...when they hang them in their house, excitedly post them on their social media, make albums out of them etc etc. To us these are just 'another photo we took'....but to the people we photograph these things become something they literally cherish. It never stops being a cool feeling.

This is awesome. The composition leads your eyes down that horizon of never ending scenery.

are you sure?

my personal preference on the first photo would be to crop tighter and place them off center - their expressions are great and if it was me in this picture, with my wife and daughter (and they look fantastic), I would like to see them more

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

Last week, while doing a simple, low-pressure corporate headshot for an older woman, she said "You know... this will probably be my obituary photo". I was like ...... uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
