A little bit off topic, but have you guys seenthe post yesterday on steve huffs photography site? Seems like he is into paranormal stuff and even made a device to communicate with the deads that he sold. Pretty weird stuff if you ask me. He has 120k subscribers on youtube and i never heard of that after years of reading and even submitting to that photography blog. I have the strong feeling that he is one heck of a scammer! Do some research about him if you want but certainly pretty weird stuff turning up. Seems like he is even more known in paranormal communities than in photography communities

A lot of people seem to disrespect him for his shady business

lol, that's funny stuff, "Huff Paranormal"

apparently the guy is a social media guru, and probably makes some sort of income from social media. He has a much bigger paranormal presence, which is funny as heck.

I dont see the issue if he enjoys paranormal stuff, he's not hurting anyone.

The average used A7 & FE35/2.8 prices are both above what I paid so maybe a slight profit is looking likely

Is that looking like a possibility now?

I nearly broke even selling my a7S and lenses, I think I lost about $300, which isn't bad for over a year of use if you ask me :)

+1 to "he's not hurting anyone." Which is more than can be said for some culturally acceptable belief systems.

Very good reads in there. Very interesting to see the thought processes of the photographers on that page.

Having the creative vision to see things worth photographing when they're less obvious is something I've been trying to work on, but its been mostly a struggle for me. Admittedly I get caught up in mental blocks about bad lighting, bad location, too many crowds etc etc etc and don't even have the motivation to shoot, even though I have a camera with me all the time (RX1RII and the wide angle adapter are with me every day). I do this knowing that some of my favorite shots happened when I almost hesitated to shoot at all for whatever reason.

Yeah. Same here. I'll have to give that a read. I know Erin's work from way back in the days (some other forum) and her work was always stellar.

I have the same blocks as you and find it extremely difficult getting out of the rut of being constantly in the same 2-3 areas. It would be nice to travel constantly and explore new places. But the reality is, with a full time job and family, I am mostly stuck in the suburbs except for the occasional weekend outing like this past one.

On that note, here's an attempted pano of the previous location in the Badlands. Would have made for an even better pano had it been in focus (it looks fine at web size, but at full size, a lot of the shots are clearly out of focus, probably due to the crazy winds on top of that desolate overlook).

$300 isn't a bad hit really is it.

But yeah, I've not used any of the Sony kit for a few weeks now although I am going to give it a little bit longer just to be 100% ;)

I would be more worried about the scientologists than the paranormal guys. It was rather odd initially though when I realised huff was into it

I'm with you on the wonderful Minolta glass. 4 have arrived in the last three weeks. Thursday the Minolta
400mm APO is due. Interestingly it is lighter than my 400DOii.

Looks like we're all going to be paying more and more for our camera equipment it seems. First it was the A7r going from $2,298 to $3,298. Then the Fuji X-T2 from $1,299 to $1,599. Then the a6500 from $999 to $1,399. Latest victim? It appears that the E-M1 II is rumored to be priced at $1,999, up from $1,399. What's funny is that at Photokina a high ranking rep at Olympus said that the successor will be slightly more expensive than the original. I don't know about you but a 40% increase sounds like more than slightly. It could be the shortage of stock so maybe there maybe limited availability for 6 months so charge a hefty early adopter tax and then cut $300 off the price in 6 months when it's not the new kid on the block anymore and the GH5 is ready for release.

Get ready for your $2,499 a7iii and your $4,199 a7riii and your $4,499 a9, lol.

When so much of the camera industry is dependent on a single sensor manufacturer, price can be dictated.

Yes the better-half say the prognosticated price of the M1ii and grimaced, but grey market looks in the $1400 range. That's risky
I know, and because we'd had to ship off the M5ii and the M10ii makes me wonder about early adoption. I am an early adopter of the
Canon M5 but I've never had a Canon arrive sour.

Beautiful capture and creature. A highlight in my life was swimming with sea turtles on Easter Island, just them swimming into natural pools.

Yeah. I was very surprised that his paranormal community is way bigger than his photography followers.

If hes hurting nobody its all well. There are however stories around that he ripped people off with lenses, and that the box he sold is a copy of another one. Weird stuff but hey, i dont care. I live on the other side of the world so...

I just found it funny that a guy with a big name in the photography community has a even bigger name in another community. Reading all the horror stories about him in the latter community made me think that hes not that nice guy he pretends to be but like i said: to each is on.
