MalVeauX "Looks rough and well used" ![]() More info | Dec 12, 2016 07:56 | #5636 roseyposey wrote in post #18210468 ![]() Hi I'm interested in this thread because I have a 70D and have been thinking for quite some time about a back up camera, although I am very much a hobbyist. I simply would hate to be without my camera for more than a day or so, although I don't shoot every day. Anyway am thinking about the M5, just wondering if any of you have used it, and what ideas about it??? Many thanks Rose The M5 costs more than a 70D at this point. So the 70D would be your backup camera? Are you looking to replace the 70D?

Dec 12, 2016 11:23 | #5637 I used the EOS M for some food photography for a new restaurant yesterday. The rear LCD and grid overlay made overhead shots super easy to setup. IMAGE LINK: https://flic.kr/p/PYhvwn![]() ![]() ![]() 2 6D - 35 f1.4L, 135 f2L, 50 f1.8 STM, 85 f1.8

Are you looking to replace the 70D? If you truly just want a backup camera, I would look at a very inexpensive but working camera that someone else has already taken the depreciation from. Maybe an M3 or a T5i to keep it newer. Or if it's truly a backup, as in, will sit forever until your 70D breaks, then look at an EOS-M1, XSi, 40D, etc, and keep it cheap. Very best, No will keep the 70D .... would probably choose a lens to keep on n the M5 and use both cameras depending on what I'm shooting on n the day, and how much gear I want to carry that day. I walk the dog every day and tend to take the 70D with Sigma 18 -35 f. 8. It's a great combo but can be a bit heavy. Olympus M1 MkII, Olympus M5 MkIII: Lenses covering 8 - 300mm

Dec 22, 2016 13:18 | #5640 Doing directly overhead shots of food is surprisingly difficult. Getting everything lined up while stretching to get the most height you can and still being able to see out of the viewfinder is a PITA. Half the time you are blocking your own light with your body holding the camera. If you set the camera on a tripod, often the tripod legs can get in the way or cast shadows. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 2 6D - 35 f1.4L, 135 f2L, 50 f1.8 STM, 85 f1.8
