Finally in the kayak club, but don't get your hopes up :( Just a Crow.
I used my GX8 + Pan-Leica 100-400mm handheld from quite a distance
sitting in the Eddy-line Carribean 14

When I got home I remember that on one of our 2014 paddle camping trips on the Roanoke River in NC
I'd already gotten a kinda neat shot. One hand on the camera, one hand on the paddle, in a good current-

I really like that second shot. How do you like the Leica 100-400 lens?

Daniel, thanks so much. Well I love the lens more than the camera but I love the GX8 too. The lens in my opinion out resolves
the GX8's sensor. The combo though does well on the SOT's deck, small enough it doesn't get in my legs way while paddling.
We did 4 days paddle camping and the last two days were wet wet wet, so it stayed in a dry bag but was still easy to get to.
Both are also weather sealed so that helps a lot of worries. Love the size more than anything-easily packed inside the kayak when I
need to, easy to wield.....of course its mFT and loves light.

That sounds like a nice setup on the yak. Nice and easy to move around. I want a super tele someday, but I know it will be a PITA to maneuver on the water.

Well you know it's mFT but at that with the Pan-Leica I have an effective of 200-800mm. It will never be FF quality but I've gotten lucky with it a couple of times. Maybe someday I'll get the nerve up to take
bigger kit.

Congratulations on joining the kayak club! You are going to enjoy it.

I just googled your Eddyline - looks very nice. Have you got a feel for how stable it is?

Yes. I'm right at 40 miles paddled in it (or on it since I'm new to the SOT world). I can swing my legs over the side, dangle them in water and sit there
with a camera in hand....calm water mind you. This is even with an Rtic 20 cooler in the rear well. I really can't imagine
what it would take to flip it over-surely a sudden 5-6 foot wave would do it with me dangling my feet. But with
stability comes slowness eh. On this weekends paddle trip I averaged 3.4 miles/hour......nothing like I'm used in say
a P&H Cetus or a Nordkapp Jubilee or even a Valley Qajaraq (some of my fav's at home). Speaking of the home collection
here are a few-

We keep those at the cabin, here in town are 6 more not including the Feathercrafts.
So I know stability and the Eddyline is tops for that.

We paddle camped the last 4 days on the Green River in Kentucky.
A paddlers paradise=only two other boats seen in that 4 days, one canoe, and a john
boat 1 mile from the end. It is like it was out own river for 42 miles.
We saw 14 eagles in total-most would flee when I got within 3 telephone poles but this one
gave me just a moment. Handheld of course, I kept the GX8 + PL100-400 sitting in my lap
the entire paddle trip, and in moving water-current varied between 3 and 5 knots-

Good one. It can be tricky retaining focus on a boat!

Another Eagle from the same paddle trip.
So out of 14 sightings I got two :(
Better than none I suppose :)
