So my new refurb unit delivered today...Looks good as new. I thought I would plug it in and check the shutter count. Apparently that is not possible with the old standby Shuttercount and EOScount programs.

So does anyone know...is there a program that will provide it?

I think the Wifey is getting me one for xmas. I currently use the 60D and have my trusty t3i with grip and extras which I will prob sell.

I have a question for 80D owners. This camera is advertised/reviewed to have up to 27 AF points that function at f/8. Unless I am reading the manual improperly, there are only 2 lenses/combos where this is true: 100-400II w/1.4X III TC - and 200-400 w/1.4x or 2x III TC (the only two Cat. G lenses/combos listed).

I have a 70-200 f/4L IS USM, and an original 100-400L. If I put a 2X on the 70-200, or a 1.4X on the 100-400, they are Category H lenses with only the center AF point functioning at all.

Am I reading the manual correctly? If so, it seems a bit deceptive to claim f/8 AF with 27 points that only works on ONE FAIRLY EXPENSIVE LENS, and ONE OUTRAGEOUSLY EXPENSIVE LENS. My 1DIV can do center point at f/8. What gives?

I had read somewhere that different lenses are different categories. And as such not all use 27 af poiints at f/8. It might have been in this thread a few pages back? Im not sure though. I have the 70-200 f/4 IS as well but no TC to test with it. Sorry.

The key is the fine print, the extra details.

I had a '79 3/4 ton 4x4 pickup with a 400 CID engine. I could claim it could travel 100 miles on a gallon of gas at 100 miles an hour. The fine print says only while idling when dropped from a plane at 36,000 feet. Yes, it probably would reach 100 miles an hour in free fall and yes, in the 10 seconds it takes to hit the ground covering that 7 miles the gas consumed may translate to 100 miles per gallon.

OK, you win. I did try various setups at f/8 with my 1DIV (which is 7 years old). At f/8 (70-200 f/4 w/2X & 100-400 w/1.4X) it is slow and needs a lot of light and contrast. If the 80D focuses at all at f/8, it has to be at least that good. Oh, well.

Curiously, the 200 2.8L II w/1.4X & 2X (together - 560mm f/8), doesn't work at all. Not that anyone would ever do that.

I'm just playin' around until the UPS guy shows up this afternoon.

Sorry, I was just having some fun with my last response. I do agree 100% with your statement that this is/seems deceptive. I think they call it advertising.

My 7D2 :
has 65 focus points IF.....
has 10 fps IF.....
can geotag pictures IF.....

Best option looks like downloading and reading the manual before buying so you have some idea what the 'IFs' are.

There have been posts on POTN where people used two TCs so I have no idea what the issue is with yours.

I got my 80D a few hours ago. I tested bounce flash first. Good to go.

The next thing I did was mount my 70-200 f/4L IS USM and 2X II TC. As expected, I get ONE (1), f/8 (and no others) AF point. To its credit, the 80D locked on quickly, like no TC in place at all. It is a cloudy, rainy, gloomy day in north-central Indiana. I zeroed the meter with f/8, 1/200, ISO 6400 and focused. Near instantaneous, and dead on. I did not compare side-by-side, but my guess is the 80D performed better (surely at least as well) at f/8 as my 1DIV does. BTW, that is not a setup I'd ever use. 100-400+1.4X maybe. But the 1DIV struggled a bit with that, too.

I got my 80D setup. Lens profiles downloaded. Menus set up. I had to update my EOS Utility, and DPP. I am ready to go.

Well, almost. I am using LR 5.7, which apparently does not handle 80D raw files. I'd rather not mess with DPP, if it can be avoided. Adobe's web-site says I need ACR 9.5, which requires LR 6.something. What do I have to do to get 80D raw files to open in Lightroom? Upgrading is OK, I just don't want to mess with cloud-based software. I'll buy a retail copy if I need to. Google turns up nothing.

Was just watching one of Canon's marketing videos on the 80D. They specifically spoke about the A/F system and showed/listed the two combos you referenced.
