i got mine back on friday from canon Sydney with the following comment from Canon
"UPON INSPECTION FOUND CAMERA BODY NEEDS AF ADJUSTMENTS , PERFORMED AF ADJUSTMENTS ON CAMERA BODY , CHECKED AND TESTED FOR FOCUS WITH ATTACHED LENS " ( A 100 - 400 MK 11 )
now i am no rocket scientist but that tells me that maybe it did have a problem
and it is now my intention to shoot the hell out of this camera over the next 2 - 3 weeks and if it doesnt do what i want it to do and i expect it to do then back it will go to Canon Sydney until it does or they replace it

Thats no good, well hope they sort it out, I guess I've been so lucky with all my canon cameras, never had an issue so never had to resort to sending a camera in to Canon, often wondered what their service was like in Australia. I had an issue with my Fuji X100 and and sent it into Fuji Australia, it was out of warranty yet they had it back with a whole new lens assembly and running perfect within 10 days and no charge. cant fault them, hope Canon service is the same
