With Batis lenses how do I switch to MF so it stays in MF after switching the camera on/off/on? Never not had a switch on the lens before and it's driving me crazy by defaulting to AF when turning the camera on.

If you switch it over to MF (e.g. via the Fn menu), and turn the camera off, it should still be in MF when you turn it back on. At least it does that on mine, just tried it with the B85

That was incredibly frustrating to me too...Apple school of design...eliminate the useful stuff for the sake of minimalism...

I have the AF/MF toggle assigned on the AEL switch. Flip it down to toggle to MF. Works well.

I don't travel enough to warrant a laptop to edit photos while away;however, it would have been nice during this Thanksgiving trip out of town. I captured some nice images a few days ago that I would love to start editing.

One thing i always do is download some of the better pics to my phone and edit them in photoshop mobile. You just edit the JPG but i think often i get the idea which pictures came out better so i have a clear idea of which pictures have potential when i get home. And, you can share the pics instantly to family and friends, or even social media if youre into that.

That is great. Didnt know that. I just kept switching to MF but it loses focus as soon as the AF refocuses which is impractical when shooting astro in dark places. Thanks for that tip!

I use the AF/MF button on the back and when I switch the camera off and back on it reverts to AF like you say, however, as long as you dont press the shutter button half way and press the AF/MF button again it stays at the focus distance you had it set to before turning the power off.

Just tried this and it works. Thanks for the info! I will start doing it this way from now on. Trying this out highlighted a strange quirk though. If you have it set to AF you can select MF from the Fn menu however if you press the AF/MF toggle and then go into the Fn menu its greyed out. Another bit of Sony strangeness for the list
