Would love to drive down to see the Amazon Kingfisher, but that's a long ways from Katy, over 300 miles. Still, a lifer for most Texans! Planning is half the fun for me. Nice to see your Bluebird in full song.

Still working up trip pics from last week.
Kinda excited about this one, not everyday I get to see a Cormorant, also taken
from the moving Canoe and I think by the end of the trip I was adjusting to shooting
while moving; just had to invest time in the boat to realize it wasn't going to turn over, though
it did constantly leak-

I will trade you all the cormorants and egrets you can deal with for a couple of your cardinals.

Cooper's hawk which are similar to Sharp-shinned hawks. This guy has a smooth transition from cere to forehead, a dark cap, and thick tarsi.

Muscovy duck

Two days ago I encountered a large flock of Goldcrests. They are the smallest birds of Europe and truly tiny. Add to that the fact that they behave like a Treecreeper on acid and you know how hard to shoot they are, especially as they find their food in the thick of the trees. The good thing is that they are not skittish at all. In fact, these birds move about so frantically (even hovering like a Hummingbird at times) that I don't think they notice anything around them. So yesterday I was in luck. I ran into a single Goldcrest and he came so close that I couldn't believe it and he completely ignored me. Of course it's still a tiny bird and it's still in the midst of a tree so tree clutter is part of the scene. Nevertheless I'm quite pleased with the shots. Here are two.

I only wish I could shoot with my 400/5.6 but this is the low-light season and I need the f/4 of the 300mm.

Very nice levina, in the spring they nest in and around this area, but they are hard to get to up in the tree top's, they are not the kind of bird to use a feeder that I have seen. It sure makes this guy hard to shot as you say.
