This little guy resides in a decorative shell on our patio and my wife has called him Henry for some reason.
Old camera body and inexpensive lens combo.

Many nice photos in this thread!

Sold my 50L a couple of weeks ago and missed the focal length too much so I bought this lens today. What a surprice when I got to know the minimum focus distance. It is 35 cm and yield a depth of field at f/1.8 of only 0,45cm according to DOF Calculator. That is shallower then the 50L at MFD. At 35cm focus distance the 50 STM gives equal smooth bokeh as 50L at f/1.2!! Perfect for my use. The sharpness at f/1.8 is about same as sharpness on 50L at f/1.2. Some haze(due to spherical abberation?) and CA.

Recommend this lens!:-)

Awesome. Love the softness of the leaves, like a painting. I assume you used a tripod at 1/50 shutter.

Fast enough to focus on adult basketball, that STM is pretty much as good as USM for practical purposes. Very nice!

Very best,

Lots of action there, impressive! Find this lens to be really fast if focus point already is set a couple of meters in front of me and to infinity. Going from MFD is another story though. Its not that fast then. Focus is a bit slower than 50L with USM motor.

Thanks! Killer combo with the 1D4. i could shoot at 1000 iso, so it's easier to crop when needed.

DOF is so thins that i had plenty of OOF shots, yet @ 10fps it's easy to get the good one.

Only, resulting 62mm often is too "long", i wish an impossible 40MM 1.8 STM ;-)a

well shooting basket at MFD could be quite dangerous for our gear :D

I enjoyed this lens in the time I had it, but then it broke.
