I just loved the way they plopped down when landing - not the most elegant taking off and landing, but wonderful when soaring and diving for fish

More gannets! Taken with Tamron 90 non vc

Heavy crop on this, but gives an idea of their elegance when flying at speed

Some of the geology - this area created by earthquakes, so a timely reminder of the power of nature with all the earthqaukes we've been having.

Space is big.
You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

New 70D Firmware - mainly (or possibly 'only') to correct an issue if you use the new EF 70-300 IS II

(pretty much 'every' EOS DSLR is getting this FW update)

I will install it because - ya never know if Canon or any manufacturer will throw in some kind of minor fix, gratis)

https://www.usa.canon.com …70d#drivers_downloads_tab (external link)

Oddly, the new FW version is th same number as the previous (70D00112.FIR)

I wonder if the FW number is the same with all the other bodies or if they accidently posted the wrong link for the 70D

Last Saturday - went up to Bluff Hill Napier which overlooks the port, and lucky enough to see two tugs bringing a container ship into the Port.

Grey heron at Haumoana the other evening. With the Tamron 90 f/2.8 non vc. Love this lens, nice and light. All cropped quite heavily, as it was a bit far away.
