Nice series Nadim. On the northern side of Mono lake is a bird sanctuary if you like taking photos of birds.

Did you manage to visit the ghost town of Bodie or Alabama Hills near Lone Pine? Both great places to photograph.

I did visit Bodie. It was midday, so the lighting wasn't great. The Alabama hills were on the menu for Sunday. We woke up to a downpour and decided to skip it. So I'll have to go back for that another time.

Sony A7RII and a bunch of lenses.

$29. Not too bad.

I have an annoying problem with it though. After installing the new version, I discovered that it didn't install the PS plugin. So, I found a help page with a direct download link (external link) to the Viewpoint 3 PS plugin. Only one problem - the download includes the version 2 plugins, not version 3. Grr! I've contacted them and asked them to correct that failure on their part.

Interesting, I did not have that issue, v3 downloaded, installed and worked no problem...my v2 was crashing everytime on launch...

My one trip to Bodie was the same...mid day, and I struggled to find anything interesting...I will go back...I know there has to be something good there...just not at noon.

From last weekend...4 image pano.

Vinz the sensor design in the rx100 iv and v is a generation ahead of the a7rii. Its a stacked BSI design.

A downpour at Alabama Hills ????? wow. When I was there last I wondered out loud when the last rain way....and I was there at 12 noon :( Worth a re-visit I think. Just so little time and I'm aging quickly.

I've missed posting here but the A7Rii has gathered dust :(
Waiting on the a99ii but B&H just moved the ship date north; same
with an OMD M1 mk II and the EOS M5---I'm zero for three and leaving for Florida
when all will probably ship.
Should I cry or just get over it.
Well I've been BIF'ing with EOS kit at Conowingo last several days. The a99ii should
have been there.
Yes I gave up on e-mount greater than 400mm. Required for what I shoot; and the latest
from Poof is bears in Romania for summer. My head spins on what she comes up with but
I'm game.

On my one trip to Bodie, I paid extra to attend a 'photographer's day' which meant we could enter the town an hour before sunup and stay for an hour after sundown as opposed to being limited to the normal visitor hours. I don't know if they still do that or not.

Does anyone have any comparative experience between Sigma 35A and Loxia 35. I've started thinking about getting the loxia simply for its size benefits. So it be more of a walk around/streetphotography. For serious/paid work I'd still use Sigma.

The problem really is that a) I like my Sigma and don't really need anything better in terms of quality. And b) Loxia is pricey. And because I'm only looking for it because of its size, I wouldn't want to buy anything less than the Sigma in terms of other factors. So, I'd be interested in knowing how Loxia renders in comparison to Sigma (especially in terms of colors and contrast). I have my doubts since I'm not a big fan of the Sony/Zeiss 55 (while technically nearly perfect, it leaves me cold and uninterested most of the time). If Loxia would be more like the Zony than Sigma, then I'd be less tempted.

David A had the Loxia 35 for a bit, but returned in because it was soft wide open.

Based on my experience with the Loxia 21, and it seems the rendering of all of the loxia lenses is consistent, I'd say the rendering is a cut above Sigma and the Sony Zeiss lenses. It's one of the few lenses where I feel the colors and microcontrast are great straight out of the camera, and the files really come alive in post.

Hi all,

I've been having some infinity focus AF trouble with my a7ii + Metabones T-smart mk4 adapter and Canon 17-40. I'm not too sure if that's a common phenomenon amongst fellow users but seems like its common enough to prompt Metabones to mention "AF accuracy improvement for subjects near infinity." for their latest V0.53 update.

Unfortunately I don't feel the issue has really been resolved and I'm not sure why either. The adapter works perfect on my sigma 50mm non-art and Canon 85mm on the other hand!

I'm liking the IBIS and the exposure latitude i get from the Sony RAW files but I'm not totally sold on the A7 series to make a complete switch to Sony, but i am considering the Sony 16-35 F4 or the Canon 6d2 when it is eventually released
