Post a critique of this image at FredMiranda I went back and played with the White Balance tool.
Honestly I'd not played with this tool. maybe I should? maybe I played with it wrongly?

I think it's a terrific image. Perfectly exposed and sharp. The angle and wing position display the bird's movement and grace very well. The white balance for this image is a very minor consideration and is purely a matter of personal taste.

Thanks. I admit to being quite weak on processing but hearing you say 'personal taste' makes me feel better :)

WB looks fine to me, Robert. I always find it tricky if it isn't right straight out of the camera. I'm bad at correcting it for my own images but funny enough always notice a colour cast in other people's images. Go figure. Anyway, this is a great shot with a lovely dorsal view. And the white works so well against the blue of the water.

Looks awesome to me, though I am missing the gator...or was that somebody else apologizing for all those egret pics?

At any rate, regarding WB: I use the "Look Up" method and set WB in camera accordingly. In post I never touch WB unless I really want to create a warmer/colder picture.

Just my 2 cents.

Cheers.
