Nope. We are deep in the mountains. Nearest ocean is 8 hours away. Now every now and then a hurricane will push them inland. Seems like the perfect bird to practice BIF on.

We are inland too, 10 hours from an ocean, but have lots of gulls. Maybe we just have more garbage.

Big big city Archibald ??
Now I can start piling up garbage out back ;)
I'd easily fit in with the neighbors down the road.....must scan their yard for gulls!

We actually don't have many gulls in the city. They seem to like waste and scraps that they find in the fields outside the city.

I've heard it said that "sea gulls" are rarely found over the sea. They prefer inland and shorelines.

A couple of BIF from our Thanksgiving trip to Galveston Island, these from Rollover Pass on Bolivar Peninsula, a "target rich" environment. These are cropped some, for composition.

Fabulous shots! The gull in particular is stellar. Could I ask, please, what "case" you used for these?

Thank you, Jack. I have been using Case 3 with modified Arthur Morris parameter settings (+2,+2,+2) with all 65 focus points for BIF for awhile now. Sometimes, the active points are not on the bird, but on these two, right on target (gull) or just adjacent (tern). These birds were not in the center of the focus grid. I am still perfecting my tracking technique and experimenting with cases. I find 10 fps to be quite addictive.
