smythie I wasn't even trying More info | Dec 03, 2016 01:33 | #6996 canon-alb wrote in post #18201445 Thanks smythie! I know it, only Af-s lenses will work on d3300. Can you recommend a good telephoto lens for FX? I have 70-300 VR on my mind. Canon has a professional 70-200 f/4 L lens, with metal body and superior optics, which sells for 500 euro. Nikon doesn't have a lens like that, at this price. Do I have a better choice than 70-300 VR at this price range? I have heard about old Nikkor 80-200, but I dont know how good are those old lenses... At that price and 300mm I don't know. I've got a 70-200/2.8 VR1 and a Sigma 120-300/2.8 OS (not the Sport version) and they both do a very good job. I can't speak to the Nikkor 70-300 VR from experience I'm sorry.

He says this lens can replace all our lens, except fast primes, 50/1.4 or 50/1.8 http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/28-300mm.htm IMO it is one of the most underrated lens in Nikons lineup. There has been so many times when I was flicking through a random Nikon flickr pools and I stop at a particular shot and say WOW! Only to find out it was this lens. Justin

I think when the forum changed over to the new format that eliminated a few, combine that with other sites popping up and becoming popular and the traffic here has thinned considerably since I joined several years ago. I used to post much more often, lately in the Nikon lens threads but it seems that I'm the only one posting in the 200 f2 threads so I hang out over at fredmiranda with the other and more active Nikon shooters.
