How about the Sigma 50-100mm f/1.8?
I hope you would share your experience! :D

If it works well I am definitely getting one of those too :)

Just did some shooting around the house and it looks like the sigma is back focusing slightly like it has been reported to do during LV on the 80D. Gunna take it out on a hike tomorrow and try it out some more.

So got back home with mine and hopefully mine is a one off with what I assume is a defective view finder. There is a dirty green line running through it vertically from top to bottom :(. The back screen and pics are fine though. So back to the shop it goes. in the short time I used it shooting books etc it was pretty much as I expected it to be. AF is not too shabby and it feels nice in the hand with the buttons and dials in the right/natural positions.

Even though its tiny it didnt feel wierd at all with EF lenses and the adaptor especially the nifty fifty and including the 400 F5.6 but didn´t want to do too much with it and drop it or something before I take it back. Ah well back it goes and then will probably have to wait for weeks for a replacement as they apear very hard to come by here in Europe.

I spent an hour shooting with a pre-production version of the M5 a while back at a canon test event and had a couple of issues with it. Can someone confirm if they're still there in the retail version as I mostly loved it!

FPS was pretty solid but the buffer depth and write speed (using a UHS-ii SD card) were appalling - after shooting one raw file, it took over 15 seconds to be able to review it and if i tried it just flashed up a waiting message. Shooting max fps meant waiting more than 30secs to be able to review shots. I tried with three diff cards of different brands and all cards worked fine and speedily in the 70d.

The other thing I found was that given the small size of the camera my fingers sat neatly over the battery release compartment, and if i changed from portrait to landscape orientation the change in pressure popped the battery compartment open, over and over and over again. Drove me totally potty. While there's probably a learning curve there, has anyone else found that gentle pressure opens it up or was that just down to the test model I had?

Would love thoughts as otherwise I'm itching to buy it. I also had the sigma 150-600C on it and thought the balance and weight distribution were great, autofocus for BIF was about what I was expecting and the quality of the end images was gorgeous.

I took it out on a hike today with just my nifty fifty. It works very well. It does feel a bit hamstrung to not compete with more expensive models though. 9fps fills the buffer awful quick shooting raw. I'm super bummed the sigma 18-35 isn't working :( It very consistently back focuses.

Overall I really like, but the 18-35 issues puts a huge damper on my enthusiasm. I was hoping to flesh out my crop kit with a sigma 50-100 and have a nice range of very high quality lenses. And then I could wait and see what the 6dmk2 looks like and take my time before I add full frame.
