Every time I take one of these photos, I end up selling or buying a lens. I think I'm pretty happy with this lineup, so hopefully that doesn't happen this time.

I notice your 70-200 II has the older "putty" white while your 100-400 II has the newer "grey" white. Canon started this change about 2010 I believe.

How old is your 70-200 II? Does anyone know if new 70-200 II's still have the older "putty" white?

All 70-200's have the same color white :-)

I have owned the 70-200 f4, 2.8 IS and 2.8 IS II and they were all the same "putty" color.

So there's no rhyme or reason? I had the ƒ4 IS and it was putty. A friend has the 70-200 2.8 and it is white, as is my 70-200 2.8II IS. I'm sure someone knows, but I wonder if color changed by market.

The new "grey" white started showing up around 2010. Before that all lenses where "putty" white . What year are your lenses?

But of course...Canon needed to motivate the status conscious photographer that there is a quite apparent visual way for discerning viewers to determine that your lenses are out of date optically, so you must not be worth it as a photographer!
The concept of 'yellowed with age' is immediately apparent and needs no explanation, even for the non-photographer!

 :p

QUOTED IMAGE

I remember the Pentax 110! Those little lenses make even the mirrorless system lenses of today look massive!
