Another very nice image.

Question for you...since you do a lot of portraits...the irises are tucked into the corners of her eyes, because she shifted her eyes to look at you...is it generally ok for that...the shoot this past weekend one of the models did that a lot, and it sometimes left one eye in the corner and the other still had a little white on both sides...just curious.

From my last trip to Orlando, I missed the really good light show...but got the aftershow and the lights coming on in the buildings...

^^^ I use 'Portrait' for most images in all honesty ;)

Now, some of you might know I wanted an AF 85mm lens as I was using the Canon FD85 an awful lot. I went off on a tangent & bought a used Fuji X-E2, 23/1.4 & 56/1.2 to give me the equivalent [Ish] ;) Both systems [A7 vs X-E2] have their pros & cons without a doubt and even though I'm not really a pixel peeper as such, I wasn't happy with the detail in the Fuji files. So...... I went & bought a Batis 85mm to go with the A7 [& FE35/2.8 & CV40] & this next particular image, on my first day out with the B85, is the one that convinced me it was a good decision.... :D

Great portrait Lee. Seem like it really was a good decision.

It's interesting to see how the 'bite' of the Batis plays with your PP style that we're all familiar with. Her eyes make the shot.

I am torn...before yesterday I was convinced that I would want, need and use the 85 FL more on the Sony if I had the B85...but I did a portrait meetup yesterday just to get some practice...I used the 135 for 184 of the 191 images I shot...the 50mm seemed too short for the scenes and working in and around a dozen other people trying to take pictures of the same 3 models...so maybe it was more that than anything else...I will probably end up getting it...the images just look too good from it.

Just a couple from the meetup shoot yesterday, waiting on the release on the other two models...I had never done anything like this...it was fun.

Nice work Travis. 135mm and 85mm both have their places for portraits. Working distance aside, 85MM is more environmental, whereas the 135 creates more indistinct backgrounds.

Hello all.

I've been MIA for the past 2 weeks due to some very busy time at work. I have several hundred posts to catch up on in here, it seems. But I'm back to processing my pics from the HWY395 strip.

Here is another set from Bodie. Same building (love the way it looks bent. It looked like this in person. This is not a lens/camera effect).

Not sure which composition I like best.

FE 24-70/4 for all 3.

I set off hiking in the dark this morning to try and get a bit of height before sunrise. This is looking back down Glen Mark where I had just walked from

This is a self portrait from the summit of Mount Keen where I was headed. I used my little Manfrotto pocket tripod for this and my cheap remote timer with 2 second delay. Im finding this a great setup for hiking

Haha thanks Annie, it certainly didn't feel like it at the top as the wind was strong and cutting right through me but apart from that I got lucky with it as it was raining elsewhere by all accounts

Great review over on Lonley Speck for the Batis 18 for astro photography. It's a long article but worth the read if you are looking for wide angle lens for astro photography.
