I've got four YN-685C's plus a 622C-TX in my cart. Can someone please tell me what else I need to also use the 622C-TX as a wireless remote shutter release?

Thanks.

I could be wrong but I seem to remember you will need a YN622C to send a signal to the YN622C-TX mounted on your camera with a patch cable to the shutter release to trigger the shutter. I think after that the YN622C-TX can trigger the flashes.

Yes. See page 60 of "The Other YN622C User Guide II" - see link in signature.

622C-TX with C.Fn 02 enabled.
622C -> 622C-TX -> cable -> camera.
Camera does its thing to focus, etc, then issues the usual command for the flashes to fire.
Camera -> 622C-TX ~> remote 622Cs.

I don't see a shutter release button on the 622C. Does the test button trigger the camera and fire the flashes?

Thanks

Thanks Clive, and I know you said to look in your guide. I would, if only Google drive wasn't blocked by my work proxies.

Another question is whether the 622C-TX will trigger RF-603 for my Alien Bees, or do I need to get two more 622C's to trigger them? I know I can trigger the 603's via my 560-TX, but I'm trying to simplify.

Assuming you will point me at the guide again instead of answering yes or no, I'll try to find a way around the proxies tonight. I should have an up-to-date copy of the guide anyway for future reference, unless I decide to go with Godox instead (still on the fence).

to control in e-ttl mode, you will need the YN-622c triggers on the flashes with a YN-622tx on the camera hot shoe.

Manual mode you can use rf-603c... one on each flash and one on the camera hotshoe.

YN622s supports manual, strobe and ettl, along with HSS if the flash can. RF603's are a 'FIRE' only type signal.

Godox/Flashpoint r2 system, plus some canon stuff.

I thought that site or country restrictions may be a problem.

"Enable remote Shutter Release [Fn] 02 Shutter Release
• Use an LS-2.5 cable (supplied) to connect the on-camera C-TX to the camera’s shutter release port. Cameras released from 2012 do not need a cable.
• Long press [Fn], then [Up] or [Down] for Fn 02
• Default value is Off. Turn On only when required.
• Press Left or Right to toggle between Off and On.
• Press [Set] to return to Groups.
• Press and release [Test] on a remote 622C:
The flash will fire a test flash.
If the camera is set to AF it will autofocus
The shutter will open and fire the flash again.
• Single shot only - no Continuous, Bulb or Timer."

I found the above setup fiddly, and use a separate (Pixel) shutter release system. Remember, shutter release drives the camera; camera drives the flashes.

Another question is whether the 622C-TX will trigger RF-603 for my Alien Bees, or do I need to get two more 622C's to trigger them? I know I can trigger the 603's via my 560-TX

Ah! Pages 74. 75 may give you some ideas. It is not clear to me what complete configuration you actually want. YN685C speedlites may be useful, with the 560-TX.

CliveyBoy (Clive Bolton) aka CeeDeeBoy (other Forums)

With great regret, I have to inform members of the death on Monday 19th December, of Clive Bolton, author of the inestimably valuable TOYUG guide.

I am sure that all who benefitted from his enormous contribution to understanding of the Yongnuo YN-622C trigger system will join me in expressing our sincere condolences to his widow Lorraine at this very sad time.

Condolences to his family. Abbie will be lost too.

'Inestimably valuable guide' indeed - and I'm not even a Yn user.
