Jul 30, 2016 22:54 | #2 I own the D500 and I rented the D810. I got the D500 because I'm starting from scratch and I needed an all-purpose camera. But if I had to pick based on image quality alone the D810 is easily the winner. It is just too slow to do all that I want to do and I can't afford 2 sets of cameras with lenses. Aug 04, 2016 22:23 | #5 Okay so to update... As of 11am today I could by any lens and camera combo that I want up to 20K and not come close to touching the amount of money that I have... My issue is that like any amount of money once it is gone it is gone for good.. I have decided that Glass is a lot better investment than the latest and greatest camera but thought about upgrading some. I love my D610 so it will stay in my bag but the D3300 and D7000 almost never get used. My Sony A6000 and my D610 are my go to camera and I feel that any big spending on a new camera would be silly but the D810 has been a dream camera for me as outdoor nature stuff is what I love most. For me this a both a hobby and Therapy as it unstressed me a lot once I started. So I decided that I will add a few lenses to the two cameras that I use the most and keep what I have until something goes on a crazy sale say during Black Firday.. God created the beauty. My camera and I are a witness..

Aug 04, 2016 22:58 | #6 I have honestly never seen a high end camera body go on sale in any significant way. How invested are you in Sony? If it were me I'd invest in one brand to make shopping easier. That way as you buy new lens etc they can be used on either body and you dont need to duplicate focal lengths.

I love the Sony because of the 11fps and have seen the photos that good glass can produce...but Nikon is my first love so I will be keeping Nikon as my big camera brand. As I begin to photograph more and more for church sometime I need to have a camera with me just in case as I sometimes find out that there is a baptism that they want me to shoot last second and it is crazy to take all of my nikon gear every wear with me so my Sony goes were I go and my big bag of nikon gear is for events that are planed in advanced. God created the beauty. My camera and I are a witness..

Sell the sony and get the D500 you are only giving up one frame and consolidating brands

Okay that video helped a ton. I crop quite a bit when birding as I lack the long lenses that I would like... It makes sense now why my Sony or even d3300 works so well for cropping images... So again it is going to be glass and more glass now a D500 will be on my list to buy this month God created the beauty. My camera and I are a witness..
