Old SD40-2, long past its glory days, is now relegated to the yard, where it spends the days going back and forth, and back and forth...

Nice shot!

What does "get home without timing out mean"?

Just like an airline crew, there is a maximum number of hours a train crew can be at the controls. Once that clock runs out, they are done, regardless of where they are. If they are close to home, no big deal, a van comes and gets them, but if they are not near their home base, its to the motel. I don't know how each railroad works it, but I was an air force crew member for over 20 years and spent many holidays away from home due to unforeseen delays, and can sympathize.

Thank you! Got it :-)

This photo captured the last train we watched on our little adventure out along the BNSF Needles subdivision. We ended the day at Cadiz. The photo is two frames stacked to capture both the crossing gates dropping and the train passing through the grade crossing.

I like the idea. Wish the train said "Train!" a little more, & the guy in the chair leaves me scratching my head a bit. ; )

I understand that this is not a typical train shot. This was shot at somewhat remote desert grade crossing with little traffic. The kid in the chair provided a bit of a different element in the typical composition from what I have seen in these types of shots. It would probably qualify as more of a rail fan shot than a train shot.
