I thought I knew, but those are deep-fried.

Hmm, for me the definition of deep fried is submerged in hot oil. That's not the case here. Then again, I've visited the deep south and have seen all kinds of things deep fried...?

Well, it's not "Lays" (and not a potato chip). Personally, I've tried to eat just one. So far, I've made it maybe 2 or 3 minutes before eating the next, and next...

When it's being "cooked" it could make quite a mess if you're not careful?

Although deep frying is standard for commercial potato chips, Wikipedia says chips may be baked or cooked in other ways (external link). Is this a chip made from something that isn't potato?

Oh yeah. In fact the preparation noise is part of the whole experience.

Dave, it is best to scroll back when you answer each question. It is real easy to miss questions in this game.

Yup, definitely.

Yes. In fact, trying to eat this raw would range somewhere from unpleasant to painful.

This is not any kind of chip, and it's not a potato product of any kind.

Did it originate in the cuisine of a region not North American and not European?

Hmm, I don't know. I would have thought that it originated within North America with the Native Americans (long before the United States was established).

The only other thing that comes to mind with "not North American and not European" sounds close to a line of dialog about airspeed velocities and African or European. In that case, saying "I don't know" results in being catapulted into a gorge. So far, I'm still here...

Do you eat this buttered, or if you are very health conscious sprinkled with olive oil?
