I've had the 6d for about 10 or 11 months now. I finally got around to doing the DotTune approach to micro-adjusting my lenses tonight. My 50mm 1.8 Mrk II will not give me a focus confirm. I have it set at +20 and it is the closest to giving me a good focus on the chart I'm using, but still isn't quite there. :( Maybe that is a sign I should invest in a different lens.

Do you use back button focus or the shutter button? When I had my Sigma 50mm f1.4 EX, I had a setting of +6 when using BBF and +15 when using the shutter button.

I wonder why that would be. I would think either button would provide the same result. Does the camera focus differently when you actuate AF from different buttons?

That seems odd to me as well. I've never heard of anyone getting different results based on which button they use. Like saea501 said, I would think you would get the same results from either button unless there was an issue with the camera. But to answer your question, I always use BBF.

Well the EX lenses did have their issues with inconsistent focus so didn't surprise me that much. Next time I recheck my lenses I'll give it another try and see if it gives me different values using other lenses.

Very nice. ^

This is something that has always struck me......how so many men, and boys for that matter, went off to wars in the 1800s and, as far as their families knew, simply never returned. Communications in those days was not very good.....identification was even worse. So these families bid farewell to their loved ones and that was the last they ever saw or heard of them. Never knowing what became of them.

Sad.
