Thanks very much, Tony!

And thanks very much, Joayne!
It was actually wonderful to be out. Cold, yes, but there was no wind and that always makes such a difference. And I also had a great time with the birds!!

Nifty has arrived! It arrived yesterday but I didn't get home until 9:00 last night. I was pretty wiped out. I am up early. Not really planning much for New Years Eve but if the weather lets up some today I will take it out for a whirl.

I'm going to shoot a couple rolls of film with it (just cause I want to use the 35mm) and it will also move around on a digital camera as well. Should be a fun time this time with Nifty.

Here it is mounted to the Canon EOS Rebel X S body. :)
Shot taken with my Nifty.

I just took it out for a stroll on my 3 acre wooded lot. I don't think I've done that before when I had the other Nifties. I took about 11 photos. My dog Shadow joined me as well and I got a few photos of her as well. Matted hair and all. Those are going to be lovely. She's a beautiful Lab/Border Collie mix. Beautiful dog if we could just keep her from digging holes under the decks and getting plastered in the Georgia red clay, she'd look pretty decent.

I did notice while I was out there that there seems to be a large thatch of pine seedlings growing on the other side of the creek (crack with a little bit of water). I think they are on my property line. If they are I need to watch that. Pine trees are no good around here. they like to tip over very easily si then I end up with lots of uprooted pine trees. :(

My goal is to get out today and finish this roll of Kodak Professional BW400CN.

Forgot to grab my notebook so I could keep track of the shutter speeds and the apertures. I'll do better with the next roll. But basically I kept it at f/8.0 just because I am shooting landscape.

Glad Nifty arrived intact, CameraMan. Hope you enjoy hosting as much as I did.

I'll be going through my last Nifty images soon. Thanks Joayne for overseeing this wonderful project.

Thanks for being such a wonderful Host to Nifty Paul!!
You've shown us armchair travelers a beautiful part of the USA that many people may never be able to experience in person!
Cheers to you Paul!

I photographed the 00:00 hours fireworks, but we had a thick mist and I could hardly see anything. However, I slapped Nifty on and a 1.4x Kenko extender and shot through my double-glass window (I'm not going to inhale those nasty fumes!). I only took a dozen or so shots because it was hopeless. This is the only shot that was workable in Photoshop but only because it was lit so close (shot is uncropped).

A healthy, happy New Year from Nifty and me to all you Nifty lovers!! :-P

I love the first one, Levina. You and Nifty captured the feeling of celebration despite the fog.

Happy New Year to all and may the Nifties have a productive and varied 2017.

Thanks, Annie.
You do realise that the second shot is the raw file (converted to a jpeg obviously), straight out of camera to show how thick the mist was and how most shots look like faint after-images of the fireworks. Right? :) :)

Yes. I still think it's pretty good and appreciate the conditions you were in!

I took Nifty with me when I went to buy my "oliebollen". Oliebollen are the Dutch traditional New Year's Eve yummi-ness. Here's a link to the Wiki about it (in English): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oliebol (external link) They are delicious and everybody eats them. You can buy them everywhere: bakeries, super markets, but I always buy them in one of the so called "oliebollenkramen" or mobile oliebollen stalls. I was there before noon but there was already a long queue. I was juggling, trying to keep 5 balls in the air and the lights in the stall were awful. So I converted them to black&white.

The two ladies from the stall. They were all too happy to pose for me. If only I had thought of stopping down the lens, but I didn't. I was too busy keeping my bicycle straight, stopping my bag from falling, having my wallet ready and trying to keep the camera still.
I decided to go wild on the shot and if you think this looks bad, ha, you should see the raw file! :-P
