That prompted me to rent ESB shortly thereafter. Which forced me to rent the original after that. I still don't get the fascination with the entire series. For a bit of perspective, I do own and enjoy the entire set Bullwinkle & Rockie cartoons. Now THAT is entertainment.

When it was first released in 1977, there had been nothing like it ever. The movie that came closest was 2001. The visuals and effects totally reset the bar. By 1983 it was the norm and nothing special. Star Trek, Aliens, Empire Strikes Back, Outland, Wrath of Khan, Blade Runner, Return of the Jedi, 2010 had all come out already so watching the fist made it seem old. Not sure why, but call me JJ.

jay125 on the happy gas ![]() More info Post edited over 2 years ago by jay125. | Jan 01, 2017 13:47 | #11376 Not a SW fan, never was. I'm also not a fan of going to theaters. I don't like being ushered into a room with few doors and lots of people who are probably carrying something I'll catch. I don't do crowds well, or places I can't get out of easily. I'm with JJ. I see way more movies at home now then I ever did in a theater, and the savings on popcorn, junior mints and coke make my house payment.

I'm a huge scifi fan and in my book, 2001 A Space Odyssey is the Standard. 2010 and Mission to Mars might come close but didn't quite get there. I cannot get over Spacecraft " Flying " in Space like Aircraft and Noise in the Vacuum Of Space............... ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ
