This little ruby-crowned kinglet was hopping around foraging on the ice at a local marsh this afternoon... seemed to be displaying his crown even though he wasn't agitated or alarmed. I watched and photographed him for about 10 minutes, got over a hundred shots from about 20-25 feet. He didn't seem to care in the least that I was there...

Thanks, Jim! Actually he was so engrossed in what he was doing that he didn't seem to mind me being there. He definitely did not sit still, though.. he was hopping all over the place. I just had to track him and snap when he paused to look for something to eat...

Thanks, Rog! The females don't have the crown, only the males. Normally, they don't display it unless they're excited or agitated. Maybe this one was just excited to find food!
