f/4 ............... not convinced i needed the 2.8 or even the IS on the f/4 as most of my low light stuff is on a tripod Sometimes I take good photos other times !!!!

Far better than the f2.8 II and on a par with the f2.8 III having compared the two back to back on Thursday. You can pick a good used one up for £600. The other thing is that you can't fit the Lee 100mm filter kit on the f2.8 unless you limit it to one filter otherwise you get vignetteing at 16mm. I have three filter slots and the polorizer fitted on mine and it's fine.
