magazine worthy

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

Very nice but I would like to see the focus just a little bit farther back :)

Cheers, Don

Do you mean a greater DOF?

I think this is a great picture. I love the little dimple.

How did you light it?

I too would go for just a little more DOF.

Greater DOF or focus on the eyes.

As is, the focus is on the front of her hair leaving the "face/eyes" soft...

Cheers, Don

I can understand the objection to the shallow dof - I was able to get my flash connected by radio so this was new territory for me because I wasn't restricted by angles. So I was able to go all the way out to 100 on my lens, but forgot to adjust the aperture to make up for the increased distance. It's just a matter of style.

But in any case I have to disagree with you on this - her eyes are tack sharp, not focused on the front of her hair. You can also tell because her lips and teeth (on the same focal plane) are also in focus.
