Can't forget the Jaguar, he'd be upset!

The thick plexi-glass takes away from the detail a bit, but I guess it is better than taking my chances in his cage.

Here are a few from the Orange Bowl. I took these from the first row of Club Level in the southwest corner of the stadium.

Shooting through plexiglass and a pellicle mirror and it still looks fantatic!

Couldn't say the last time I've seen a football game; but the last shot looks decisive! Well captured.
Mickey, did you see the a77ii has been dc'ed at B&H, or that's what a poster said at FredMiranda....so get ready for the a77iii :)

So I'm doing a session for my wife's business a few days ago, and I started off with the a7r/FE 55 combo because it was just easy. The group shots went fine, and then on to head shots. My shots were good enough, but just lacking the extra umph I wanted--you know, that extra 5% where you give yourself a high-five when you review the pic right after taking it.

So I busted out the LA-EA3/Minolta 200 2.8, strapped it on the a7r, and went MF.

Now the FE 55 is a fantastic lens--one of my all-time favorites--but for head/shoulders or even waist-up shots the 200 really did it for me. I mean, it is kind of like bringing a gun to a knife fight, but as much as I hate manually focusing it was very worth the effort.

I don't know if the Minolta 200 2.8 is definitively better than the Canon EF 200 2.8, but I do know that when I used both lenses they made me feel great about my photography. And in the long run, that's why I shoot :)

Michigan's poor QB got rocked all game, but I thought that hit was going to be concussion city for him. At least the FSU defender got a personal foul for it.

Whoever posted that info on the a77ii must me a serious insider, or a B&H employee, because it is still on sale (and priced really high!) with no indication of being pulled on the site. If someone said it on FM, I do have to take it pretty seriously!

I wonder what Sony has in store for the a77ii? Backlit sensor? IBIS? 4K video? The A99ii's AF system? Dual SD slots? All the above?

Thank you for the compliment! I exported those files direct from my camera, to DXO 11 and had them imported to Flickr. Quite a few could use sharpening, but I'll get around to it whenever.

Of note, the A77ii used just over half of a battery to crank out 1.7K shots. I was, and still am, dumbfounded. Had image review turned off, turned off the camera when I knew I would have longer pauses between shots. Lots of 8-20 shot bursts!

Sorry to bomb the thread--even if it feels like it is our personal thread most of the time, Robert--but I forgot to add something of importance about the Orange Bowl shoot.

I decided to trust the AF system completely, forgoing my usual center-point only sports routine in favor of setting it to Wide. I mostly approved of the results and I'll do it again for sure. I think this series may have been some user error because I was kind of in shock this mascot took a tumble WITH the horse, but you can see that my subject wasn't entirely grabbed by focus.

I was pretty much in shock!

There is a YouTube clip of the fall, but I haven't seen any stills . . . haven't really looked, though!

In my many (too many) years on Earth I've been close to a lot of animals.
Once in Alaska we had three Brown bears on three points around us; all within
50 feet...no fear just enjoying the moment---they were all eating salmon and could
care less we were there. But spiders and horses I have an honest fear of. Spiders because
they bite and you don't even know you were hit...couple days later and your skin is sloughing
off. Horses because even if they like you one accident and you're crippled for life.
Poof laughs at this feeling---she's had horses a lot of her life; actually road through the mountains
on skinny trails with big falls possible if something went wrong (bears/snakes), and she never
had a problem!
I guess it's all attitude :)

I've seen video footage of wildlife photographers practically mingling with brown bears while they hit the salmon buffet. It is amazing to see how locked in the big fellas get!

I'm with you on horses. My sister used to ride back in the day and I was tasked with feeding for a week. The first time I had to feed outside of the stable I was done with the whole thing! Too big, too unpredictable!

As for creepy-crawly things, I'm never in a hurry to get close. My uncle has been one of the leading snake handlers in Florida for decades, but I'm definitely not that guy.

A few from Chapman Pond, right across the street from the Tallahassee townhouse. I missed a few gorgeous BIF because I'm pretty terrible at it (but I should get lots of practice the next few months!), but this pond makes me want to get up in the AM and take pics--which means it is pretty darn cool. I'm still learning the DXO software, but overall I think it has been a solid add for me.

Nothing at all against my 2xTC, but spending several months here may lead me to the 150-600 Tammy yet!
