I've loved the humanity Pete has shown us with his photos during this administration.

It has been an interesting time not just politically but as far as photography goes as well. We've seen gear get to the level only dreamed about in 8 short years. Technology has given us more access to this administration than that of any in the past. Exciting time for photography in general.

Just wondering... what does one do after a dream assignment ends? Not like you just open a headshot studio...

Why would we care?

Because he is the current Chief Official White House Photographer for President Obama and also was the Official White House Photographer for President Reagan.........that is why.

Because Obama is leaving does that mean Pete's assignment will end as well? That is, is his job a result of Barack's saying 'I want this guy' or is it a White House appointment?

Based on what I've seen of Trump I imagine he will throw pretty much everyone out the front door when he comes in. :-(

I believe the President appoints the chief photog himself, and I don't see this new administration keeping anyone.

Many of us like his work. It's possible we've seen more photos by him than by anyone else over the past eight years. Many of us want to continue to see his work.

It's OK if you don't care. But if you really don't, it's kind of odd that you'd post a reply to tell us you don't care.

Chauncey did not post a reply saying that he didn't care. He posted a reply asking why others would care.......seems like a fair question, as I kind of wondered the same thing. And your answer, quoted below, seems like an excellent answer.

By the way, I had never even heard of Pete Souza before seeing this post. Thank you, Nick5, for telling us who he is in your post - that saved me the trouble of Googling, which I don't like to do.

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

If you have not looked at this and you enjoy truly great mostly candid photography, then you should.

I'd say his subsequent posts confirm my interpretation.
