So I bought the STM predominately to use on my M3 and it's focussing speed and accuracy is miles ahead of the MkI. Not just that though, it is definitely better in terms of image quality as well. Those little tweaks Canon did with the coatings made a lot of difference. People thought the old 50mm f/1.8 lenses were bargains, the STM is even more of one now!
