someone should frame this

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

I hardly ever comment on kid or pet pics but the first one is tops! All fantastic but the first really
does capture the (me) viewer.

Aha you just gave your secret sauce away ;->> I have never heard of Conowingo so I Googled it and found this: https://bellaremyphotography.com …-eagles-at-conowingo-dam/ (external link)

Looks like quite the crowd of photogs. Do you know what species of fish they are eating here? A quick scan of the link did not tell. Could be alewives that do a seasonal spawning run. Maybe get stuck at the dam like salmon in the west.

Did some more Googling:http://www.baltimoresun.com …agles-20161112-story.html (external link)
According to this the fish are "perch, gizzard shad and other fish"

When I was there in early December they were taking a lot of shad and walleye but I also saw the occasional bass and crappie. There's probably a few other species I could ID if I went back and looked closely at all my photos. You can see a few here: https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=18232361

I took possession of a 1DXII earlier this week. I've owned the 1DII, 1DsII, 1DsIII and 1DX but this is the first 1-series that I've owned while it was the current flagship. I can't wait to put it to use on our local nesting pair of peregrines this spring! In the meantime, I'm hoping to get out for a day this weekend and look for some short-eared owls.

My son has been sick so I've been stuck home with him the last couple days. I borrowed a couple of his stuffed animals this afternoon and did some AF testing with the 600mm f4 (bare and with both converters) and with the 100-400mm. I shot handheld from a bunch of different distances from MFD to around 100' with each lens/combo to see if I noticed any back or front focus trends that might warrant looking further into micro adjustments. So far so good, everything was spot on. Here's a couple with the 2xIII near MFD just as an example. (If anyone is wondering the 2nd one is a bat, when your CV includes having worked as a bat biologist, your kids have stuffed bat animals.)

If you 'guide' to the Peregrine Falcon please let me know! I've never seen one even semi-close and would love to.
