I am in awe of the masters in this thread! I also appreciate the Exif data that a lot of you post so I can learn to up my Bird In Flight game...and would welcome constructive criticism on this photo. It was shot right at sunrise, so I'm thinking to get more of the bird in focus, narrower aperture, higher shutter speed, higher iso? (More telephoto would be good, but not immediately practical.)

Thanks! I like to show rotor blur in helicopter shots. I don't object to the wing blur myself, but I want to get better at the whole sharp body thing too! I really enjoy learning how to make it come together...simultaneou​sly frustrating and enjoyable.

Yep they use them like paddles for diving under water, they are very good quite deep divers.

I think it looks equally good here, Robert. It's just that over at flickr and FM we get to see it (much) larger and larger pics seem to often look better.
