I'm sure I wouldn't upgrade from X100T if I had it. I was actually contemplating on getting an X100S instead of X100T. But the X100F came out just the right time, with just the right improvements in place (joystic being the biggest of them). So I decided I'd pay the premium.

For sure, the D-pad for moving the focus point is a pain. I might get one once they start to appear on the refurb site in 6 months or so.

I went on a scouting mission yesterday to find locations to shoot when the right conditions present themselves:

Does anyone of you out there have personal experience with Canon, Sony AND Fuji. I'd like to know how Fuji compares to the other two brands (whose cameras I currently own) when it comes to color rendition. I've always loved Canon's colors (even though skin tones can be a bit reddish at times), whereas Sony on the hand gives me a lot of trouble (white balance never seems to be accurate and raw files often have an annoying greenish hue). Then again, I like Sony for the portable size (I don't own the larger GM lenses and I'm not going to go for them) and general image quality (other than color).

I know Fuji has been praised for its colors. But I've seen some conflicting tests and statements (like the one over here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRQpueEvb-U (external link)).

So, I'm curious to anyone's personal empirical experience.

I've owned all three, and in the order you listed, I'm now fully committed to a Fuji system ;)

I agree with the observations you made. I think Canon and Fuji are both awesome in terms of color rendition, but the Fuji generally wins out for it's almost always spot on AWB and the ease of changing between the different film simulations (even in RAW conversion) to get the color palate you like for a particular shot.

My a7S was a mixed bag, sometimes it would nail the white balance or I could tweak it in post and get great colors from it, other times (and more often it seemed) I would spend 5x longer on each shot just trying to get the greens and magentas to balance properly.

I decided to dive fully into Fuji when I started bringing my X-E2 + 1 or 2 lenses (usually one) AND my a7S and a couple of lenses with me on trips and found that the a7S just stayed in the bag almost entirely.

I like what I'm reading. I took a 5D3 and Sigma 35A out today. It's been a long time with Sony. I've been using the Canon practically only for paid gigs and Sony for everything I do for myself. And since I've felt increasingly frustrated about having to spend too much time fixing the colors in LR, I felt so good with the 5D3 today. Almost everything I shot was more or less spot on.

I'm eager to have the X100F in my hands. Though I am concerned that it'll drive me into yet another system.

You should be, the X100 series is like a gateway drug into Fuji! I'm just fortunate enough that all I want is the focal length that comes attached with to it.

Honestly I think any Fuji is a gateway drug into Fuji :)

I played around with the curves on these, so those of you who like the natural colors (as we were just discussing) don't be frightned by the look seen below
