I guess you're right, but things like that really bug me especially when I shelled out over £1000 a month or so ago! I just did a manual sensor clean and the red pixel in the EVF seems to have disappeared. No idea why it would be related, or if it even was....

Same thing happened with my original M. I vaguely recall a manual clean corrected the mapping for me as well.

Obviously looking at my architecture shots I'll just stick with birds ;)
This one with the 18-55mm (Poof's), I have the 15-45mm, speaking of, does anyone
know which of these two is supposed to be best ???

Regarding "hot pixels", yes that does happen and it's not the same as dust. Canon has a "fix procedure" for those pixels that goes like this...

Go into the menu and select "manual sensor cleaning".
Don't actually do anything with the sensor, in fact you don't even need to remove the lens.
Wait at least 30 seconds.
Turn off the camera power.

Coincidentally, if you actual are cleaning your sensor, you're probably taking more than 30 seconds to do it. So the act of cleaning the sensor might have one to believe that it was related to the cleaning.

About 30 minutes before the sun was SUPPOSED to rise...didn't even show through the clouds. At Least the wind and waves provided some atmosphere. Topaz denoise used to clean the picture up...

If I take enough pictures, at least one of them should turn out...maybe

In the M5 reference manual it lists the camera as a "DSLR non-reflex" camera. So... "mirrorless" is kindof a weak name we all know that. (Tell us what it is, not what it isn't.) But "reflex non-reflex"? That's marketing...

Well, so far I'm liking it (the M5). What I like the most is how my EF lenses work using the EF-EFM adapter being faster and compatible with more lenses that using the Metabones adapter on my Sony.

But, go figure. Canon body, Canon adapter and Canon lenses. Insider secrets for fast performance.

Yes being able to use EF and EF-S lenses is huge for me too!

Back to hilly trails on Te Mata Peak again today.

This has had a bit done to it, as the original seemed a bit wishy washy to me. Made four virtual copies a stop apart in Lightroom, then into SNS-HDR to merge, and back to Lightroom for some clarity, contrast, and fixing exposure to histogram and eye ...

That's me exactly. For quite some time I metabone'd EF lenses to Sony and always wanting.
With the M5 all my EF and EF-S lenses are native....bout freaking time Canon saw the light :)

Lovely Rose. Pano merge, yet something else to ply when I get the chance, just the darned birds get in my way.

Always so much more to do and learn Robert ... as you know landscape is my main interest, but I need to have the Tamron 90 f/2,8 on hand for the tuis next time I go on that bit of track. Lots of cabbage trees and flax, so tui will love it. And so will I if I get a decent photo! A large one settled about two metres away (if that), but my dog thought it was a game of chase, so off went the tui!

My M5 arrived last week, very happy with it so far! Smaller than I expected and while I haven't done anything but play with setting and test snaps so far, I am impressed with the AF speed as compared to the M3. I also had the original "M" and it absolutely blows that away.

I like the range and compactness of the 15-45mm over the 18-55mm that I got with my M3. With a camera this small and light the plastic vs metal construction doesn't bother me. I have an adapter as well and high hopes for using my old 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II USM lens with it. Gives a wider aperture and a good range in a reasonable size that actually balances well.

Was able to sell my M3 with the EVF and 18-55mm locally, so the upgrade was "only" a few bills.

My Canon refurb 22mm f/2 should be here today or tomorrow and I plan on keeping the kit at hand and hoping for opportunities to present themself so I can get some time handling it.
